• One of my clients uses the basemap and finds it to be out of date regarding new housing developments. Also it behaves weirdly, where at different zooms, the detail changes: 14= some of the houses, 16=no houses, just initial earthworks, 17= thousands of houses.
Google Maps shows all of the houses. We can contact Google Cloud and subscribe to the…Read More

  • Looking for a tip with queries. How can you set up queries for ‘Last month’ and ‘Current month’? Thanks. @mattgbm

    • Hi Pete, if a konect dataset has a date defined you should be able create a query by using the less than function. The konect manager should give options to define a time interval

      • the problem is it’s a moving frame, Matt. I asked the AI bot and it said “Set Time Filters : Use the date or time filter options to specify the time period. You can select options like ‘last month’ or ‘this week’ from the available presets or manually set the date range.” – which I think is an example of AI making stuff up, as there’s no such operand.

  • To simplify user management in large systems, is there a way to group users, so they can be assigned to a project in one go?

  • In Konect Manager, is there a way to print out a list of all the data fields, with type (and perhaps other parameters)?

  • NOTIFICATIONS – my client wants to receive automated notifications of particular data events. The Konect User Guide (4.7.1) shows how to send a text to users. Is there a way to send data-driven alerts? (alternative is to do it in Power BI).

    • Hi Pete, thanks for posting regarding this. Can you provide an example of the data event that may occur on the client side? Let me know and I will seek to provide a more detailed response.

      • Sure – the client operates a fleet of machinery to carry out field tasks. There’s a variety of forms relating to tasks, staff and machines. You can run a routine report, say weekly, to plan servicing, but let’s say a machine breaks down and needs repair. This is recorded on the form and should trigger an alert to the workshop.

    • @mattgbm or others, any update on this? Could an alert be created in the API? It can be done in Power BI, but my client has not set this up yet.

      • We have settled on using the API and a Python script in conjunction with a messaging service like Twilio. This is being done in one Konect instance we are aware of, using Power Automate.

        • Hi Pete. Thanks for the insight, this sounds like a good approach to trigger the alert making use of the Konect API
