  • Konect Manager – Cascading Lists

I want my user to select an activity from a list of activities that are valid for the previously selected asset type.
I have a set of cascading lists. Asset Group, Asset Type, Activity Group, Activity Type

When editing the activity form (over the Activity dataset), I want the user to select an activity t…Read More

    • Hi Ken,
Konect has been able to do this for a while.
When choosing a list from the form editor you will be offered a set of child lists, these will include for any copy value fields that are based on a list field.
If this doesn’t occur it may be because the copy value field was created on a field that was changed to a list field after the copy…Read More

      • Thanks, I have that working now.

What is the purpose of the “Group Name” field in the copy field set up dialog. How does the copy from linked parent check box work in the case that I have already specified the dataset and field to copy.

        • Hi Ken,
All copy value fields from the same dataset are updated to the values from the chosen feature found in the copy value summary at the top of the form.

If you have a requirement to copy values from 2 different features from the same dataset you can do this by giving the copy values fields different group names. All copy values fields with…Read More

        • Missed your question about the copy from linked parent.

A copy value field is essentially a geographical intersection with the feature and the dataset you wish to copy the value from. The copy value field ‘copy from linked parent’ is an option for child datasets (using the copy geometry option) so the intersection doesn’t occur, but the value…Read More

  • I’ve got an activity which requires geotagged photos. Is this something that can be done in Konect natively?
Currently my staff are taking photos with an app and then uploading to the data point in konect.

    • Hi Connor. Yes this is possible. If you add a photo attribute to your form, once you export the data from Konect a seperate file is created with geoferenced details of the photographs.

      • I’d also recommend adding a unique ID attribute to your form so you can use that field to merge the exported photograph information with the other data you have collected in the field (if required). Happy to provide further context or explanation if needed.

        • Thanks Matt, I’ve already got a unique ID field. It was more that I need the geotagged info on the photo itself (date/time and lat/long). I have seen some of my photos have come through after exporting with the info but others appear to be missing lat/long for some reason.

          • Hi Connor,
Your users will need to enable location permission for the camera to record. Location will also need to be turned on.
The other problem may be no GPS signal such as being indoors.

            • Thanks Michael. Is that first suggestion on the camera app itself on the phone/tablet? Or are all the suggestions within Konect?

          • Konect uses the default camera app. The default camera app will need permission to save the location into the EXIF data for the photo.
For Android go to Settings > Camera settings > Click on “Save location”
For iOS go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then select the “Camera” app and choose “While Using the App”

          • Great news, thanks for letting us know.
