• Is there a way to force photos to export as landscape rather than portrait?
Especially given the lat/long and date/time data being displayed, it looks ugly if I simply rotate the photos into landscape mode after export.

    • @johnivett got any thoughts on this question?

      • Photo orientation is controlled by the user at the time of capture, so both portrait and landscape will present correctly with the appropriate footer overlay. If the image has been collected using the incorrect orientation there is no capacity to modify this after it has been committed to the database. I would suggest exporting those images that…Read More

        • That is the case when using my iphone but not when using my android tablet.
On the tablet, I checked in just the camera app and it is recognising landscape vs portrait but in Konect it is not. Is there a setting I can check on Konect — there does not seem to be one for the camera app itself.

          • Hi Connor, Konect simply reads the EXIF data supplied by the camera application on your device. In your case it appears that the EXIF data is not standard and cannot be interpreted by Konect. There are no settings available in Konect to override this, so I think you will need to use a work around to resolve the issue.

            • Thanks for the info John. These are Galaxy Tab A9+ devices, I wouldn’t think anything would be unusual. When I enabled screen rotation (lock was default) it was forcing the photos into landscape mode for me.

            • Hi John, thanks again for your earlier help. Is there also a way to increase the text size of the lat/long and photo data info?

            • Connor, Konect does not allow modification of the default settings, so no you can’t modify the text size. An alternative for you may be to use an alternative camera driver on the Galaxy Tab. I have implemented this for a number of clients but not specifically for your requirement, but it is related. Some government agencies require the metadata to…Read More

  • I’d like more options for Map Styles.
Specifically, I think the requirement to have a list be used for the Style column is too restrictive.

I’d like to be able to do styles by date or range.

    • I’m interested in this too – to be able to change colours by query or rule. An option is to port the data to Power BI and set it up there.

    • While you can only have pseudo thematics based on list values, there is a work around using queries and individual styles. A common example of this is where we have a text calculated field tracking a range of activities at a site and the calculation returns a value of Proposed, Started, Partially Completed and Completed. In this case a style is…Read More

  • I’ve got an activity which requires geotagged photos. Is this something that can be done in Konect natively?
Currently my staff are taking photos with an app and then uploading to the data point in konect.

    • any ideas?

    • Hi Connor. Yes this is possible. If you add a photo attribute to your form, once you export the data from Konect a seperate file is created with geoferenced details of the photographs.

      • I’d also recommend adding a unique ID attribute to your form so you can use that field to merge the exported photograph information with the other data you have collected in the field (if required). Happy to provide further context or explanation if needed.

        • Thanks Matt, I’ve already got a unique ID field. It was more that I need the geotagged info on the photo itself (date/time and lat/long). I have seen some of my photos have come through after exporting with the info but others appear to be missing lat/long for some reason.

          • Hi Connor,
Your users will need to enable location permission for the camera to record. Location will also need to be turned on.
The other problem may be no GPS signal such as being indoors.

            • Thanks Michael. Is that first suggestion on the camera app itself on the phone/tablet? Or are all the suggestions within Konect?

          • Konect uses the default camera app. The default camera app will need permission to save the location into the EXIF data for the photo.
For Android go to Settings > Camera settings > Click on “Save location”
For iOS go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, then select the “Camera” app and choose “While Using the App”

          • Great news, thanks for letting us know.
