is there any way to prevent Konect app from activating idle mode while using the GPS? like when you use google maps app for navigation the tablet doesn’t lock screen but when using Konect app for navigation it does. we are unable to disable the idle screen lock per app and it must be on due to IT policy. so using the Konect app to navigate with GPS to the next point on the screen will lock if the staff member doesn’t touch the screen every few minuets. is there anyway to fix this?

not really viable to keep switching back and forth between apps. you also lose the ability to see reference data in Konect while navigating in external app. how come google maps / apple maps navigation, playing a video or even certain games prevents the screen from locking isn’t there a way Konect app could be made to do the same? looks like there is various library’s for app developers to disable idle timer while app is open on both Android or iOS. (insomnia, coffee, screenalive) Couldn’t one of these be added to the setting tab in Konect to toggle the ability to disable screen idle timeout while the app is open? it would be safer for staff to not have to touch the screen ever few minuets in the cradle while driving to prevent Konect app closing while navigating the onscreen GPS point to the next object.

Hi Shaun. Thanks for your further insight and feedback, understand where you are coming from.
On the Konect side, our requirement for deployment of core app functionality updates in the past would have been significantly constrained by google/IOS requirements for these settings.
I will mention this to the team and we can investigate whether other options/workarounds are viable for future releases

Hi Shaun
Thanks you for your feature request. I will add it to our support system to keep track of.
We would need to carefully consider the security implications before implementing this feature. Many of our enterprise customers have strict security policies that would be compromised by an always-on screen option without organizational controls.
If this functionality is important for your team, I recommend reaching out to your IT department about possible solutions through your MDM (Mobile Device Management) system. Many MDM tools can modify screen timeout settings for specific applications while maintaining your organization’s security standards.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that device manufacturers often flag apps that keep screens on continuously as high battery consumers. This can result in these apps being first to close when system resources are low, potentially interrupting your work.
Kind regards,
Michael

HI Shaun. The konect app in this instance is restricted by the smartphone settings. If IT are unable to increase the timeout setting, the best option (if coverage exists) would be to use the “Open Directions” navigation service from Konect if possible. This will open google maps navigation to a location which exists in Konect.
To enable – after selecting a record on the map and bringing up the form, select the three dots on the map and select “open directions”
Let me know if you have any further questions or comments
